UPDATED: Police: One-Car Accident In North Madison May Be A Fatal
Accident occurred Tuesday evening in the vicinity of Durham Road and Hathaway Lane; Accident under investigation.
Madison Police are investigating a one-car accident that occurred on Route 79 near Hathaway Lane around 5:41 p.m. Tuesday.
Madison Police said it appears that the accident may have been a one-car rollover involving a van, but that it is still under investigation.
"The Madison Police Dept is investigating a one car motor vehicle accident on RT 79 North of County Road. RT 79 was shut down for approximately 4 hours. The lone occupant of the vehicle was transported by EMS personnel and is presumed dead. The identity of the operator is being withheld pending notification of the family. No other vehicles appear to have been involved. The cause of the accident is under investigation," police said in prepared statement.

Madison Police said around 8:50 p.m. that the road was being re-opened.
