Madison Police Help Out At University Of New Haven

Event at University of New Haven promotes camaraderie and unity between college students and law enforcement agencies.

By Gabe Balsamo

Teams from as far away as Virginia and upstate New York traveled to the University of New Haven to take part in a Region Four competition hosted by the Psi Omega Chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association, and several members of the Madison Police Department were there to provide a hand.

The American Criminal Justice Association is a national organization that promotes camaraderie and unity between college students and nationwide law enforcement agencies. The weekend contains a physical agility competition, crime scene investigation, live firearm shooting, and written examination, all of which is similar to local law enforcement entry level standards.

In addition to the teams from Virginia and upstate New York, numerous chapters throughout the region participated as well. Local and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Madison police, attend to assist with the competition, providing a great networking opportunity. The weekend will end with all of the chapters in Region Four coming together for an awards dinner and ceremony on the University of New Haven's campus.
