Madison Police Aid In Apprehension Of 23-Year Old Son Charged With Assaulting Cancer-Stricken Mother

Girlfriend charged as well with assault in the third degree on a disabled person and with possession of narcotics.

 

According to the , a 23-year old resident, Albert J. "A.J." Monaco was arrested Sept. 5 and charged with third degree assault on a disabled person.

The disabled person, said police, is Monaco's 56-year old terminally ill mother, a cancer patient, who lives at 90 River Road in Clinton.

Also arrested in the incident is A.J. Monaco's girlfriend, 23-year old Emile Blaine of Rector Street in Bethel, her last known address.

Police said that they responded to a disturbance call at 90 River Road, the residence of both Monaco's.

Upon arrival it was learned that the victim was accosted by her son and her son’s girlfriend, said police. 

The pair allegedly took the victims credit card by force, by ripping the card out of the victim’s hand. In doing so, the victim sustained some minor bruises during the incident, but did not need further medical attention, said police.

The pair fled the home prior to police arrival. A short time later the pair were located by Madison police officers just over the Clinton town line in the town of Madison, police said.

A.J. Monaco and Blaine were taken into custody and charged with:

1) Assault 3rd degree on a disabled person

2) Disorderly conduct

3) Robbery in the 3rd degree

4) Larceny in the 6th degree

While in police custody, Blaine was also found to be in possession of several prescription pills which were identified as being methadone and amphetamines, noted police. Blaine was additionally charged with possession of narcotics and possession of a controlled substance.

Both Blaine and A.J. Monaco were held on $5,000 bonds, and will be arraigned today, Sept. 6, in Middlesex Superior court.
