Liberty Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

East Haven man is suspect in bank robberies in Waterbury, Meriden, Essex and Plainfield also.

Madison and North Branford police on Friday arrested an East Haven man in connection with . North Branford police charged him for a robbery in that town, and he is a suspect in bank robberies in Waterbury, Meriden, Essex and Plainfield, police said.

Christopher Bishop, DOB 09/11/1974, of 41 Philip Street in East Haven, was charged with third-degree larceny and breach of peace.

Bishop was also charged with third-degree larceny and breach of peace in connection with the October 5th robbery of the First Niagara Bank in North Branford.

The arrest was made by the Madison Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and the North Branford Police Department Criminal Investigation Division. The two departments also worked with the Plainfield Police Department, New Haven Office of the FBI and Members of the Connecticut State Police.

Bishop was held on a $250,000 court set bond on the Madison charges and is scheduled to appear in GA 23 in New Haven on 12-12-2011.

Bishop is being held on a $100,000 court set bond on the North Branford charges.

Police said the investigations are continuing.
