Investigation of Drug Sales At Nearby Skate Park Yields 14 Arrests

After complaints of alleged drug use and the sale of drugs at the Clinton Skate Park, police initiated an investigation that resulted in the arrest of 14 individuals, two of whom are from Clinton.

 

After an eight-month investigation into alleged illegal drug sales and drug use at the Clinton Skate Park, members of the Clinton Police Department issued 14 arrest warrants including four for individuals from Clinton, Westbrook and Old Saybrook, two of whom are juveniles.

According to police, community members had complained of alleged drug use and the selling of drugs at the skate park located at the Ethel Peters Recreational Complex off Glenwood Road in nearby Clinton.  The park is located adjacent to the Lewin G. Joel Elementary School. "As a result of the investigation, police also developed information on other unrelated crimes and arrest warrants were issued," said police.

All 14 subjects were arrested, said police, and are scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior court at later dates.

The four local suspects include:

David Nazario, 21, of Glenwood Road in Clinton. He was arrested and charged with possession of a sawed-off shotgun, burglary in the third degree, larceny in the third degree, the sale of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school (Joel Elementary School) and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. Nazario was held on total of $100,000 in bonds and is scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior court on March 21.

Brett Tucker, 19, of Allendale Road in Old Saybrook. He was arrested and charged with four counts of the sale of marijuana, three counts of possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school (Joel Elementary School), and three counts of possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Tucker was taken into custody with the assistance of the Eastern Connecticut State University Police in Willimantic. He was transported to the Clinton Police Department where he is being held on bond and is scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior court on March 21.

A 17 year old male juvenile from Westbrook was arrested in Westbrook with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police. The juvenile was charged with two counts of the sale of narcotics, two counts of the sale of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and conspiracy to sell narcotics.   

A 15 year old male juvenile from Clinton was arrested and charged with two counts of conspiracy to sell marijuana.

More arrests are expected in this investigation, said police.
