Hands On Firefighting And Rescue Operations Featured At Fire Ops 101

Selectman Al Goldberg, and Board of Finance members Jennifer Tung and Sandy McKissick experience what firefighters and EMS personnel face on a daily basis.

By Lt. Chris Yenco

On Wednesday, June 27, 2012 the Madison Hose Company #1, North Madison Volunteer Fire Company, and the Madison Ambulance Association hosted a program for elected officials known as FIRE OPS 101. This program included hands-on firefighting and rescue operations under the controlled supervision of firefighters and EMS personnel. Participants learned exactly how challenging it is to keep our community safe.

This program demonstrated many aspects of fire and emergency medical operations, from suiting up in the proper protective gear, to putting out fires. Each of the scenarios gave participants the opportunity to experience what firefighters and EMS personnel face on a daily basis.

Representatives from the Town of Madison included Selectman Al Goldberg, and Board of Finance members Jennifer Tung and Sandy McKissick.

Very good idea regarding this wonderful program with no coo-coo's whining about alleged budget cuts. Nice to keep things on a positive track. It appeared to be very educational and informative. Hats off to all those who chose to participate. Keep up the good work.
