A house fire in Guilford closed Boston Post Road in both directions near Goose Lane and Tannar Marsh Road early Monday evening, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
The road is now open.
Traffic was detoured onto both Goose Lane and Tannar Marsh Road as a result of the road closure Monday evening, CT DOT said. The road closure lead to a traffic backup just as the evening rush hour started. The house fire appeared to be approximately across from the Shoreline Diner on Route 1, just down the road from the Goose Lane I-95 exit, which is used by many Madison residents who live in the west side of town.
North Madison Volunteer Fire Co. was among fire departments called for mutual aid to help knock down the fire.
