Family Receives $825K Settlement After Teen Died At Madison House Party

West Haven teen, Jaquell Jackson, 18, died at the Madison house party.

West Haven teenager, Jaquell Jackson, 18, died after drinking excessively at the home of Richard and Susanne Kos, of Madison, in June of 2010. 

Jackson was one of many teens drinking at the Kos’ house on that night. 

Four years later Jackson’s family will receive $825,000, the New Haven Register reports.

Madison police made five arrests in connection with Jackson’s death. Richard Kos and his wife, Susan, were arrested along with their sons James and Matthew. Also arrested was Christian Stockinger of West Haven. 

The original charges were:

• Richard Kos, 53, of 18 Green Springs Drive, Madison, with conspiracy to tamper with or fabricate evidence, second-degree reckless endangerment, and permitting minors to possess alcohol

• Susanne Kos, 52, of 18 Green Springs Drive, Madison, with second-degree reckless endangerment, and permitting minors to possess alcohol.

• Matthew L. Kos, 27, of 18 Green Springs Drive, Madison for permitting minors to possess alcohol. 

• James L. Kos, 19, of 18 Green Springs Drive, Madison, with tampering with or fabricating evidence, and possession of alcohol by a minor.

• Also arrested was Christian Stockinger, 19, of 11 Tuthill Street, West Haven, tampering with or fabricating evidence, and possession of alcohol by a minor.

The charges against the teens were Nolled and Richard and Susanne Kos had their charges reduced and pleaded guilty to permitting minors to serve alcohol.
