Connecticut State Police Report 260 Accidents, 70 DWI Arrests, And 2,013 Speeding Tickets Over Holiday Weekend

Connecticut State Polie reported 260 accidents over the Memorial Day weekend. Eighteen of those accidents caused injuries and there were four fatalities reported, in Groton on I-95 and in Bolton on Route 85.

The police also reported 70 arrests on charges of driving while intoxicated, 978 seatbelt violations and 2,013 speeding tickets.

Over the holiday weekend, additional troopers were put on the road for sobriety checkpoints. Aggressive driving was targeted as well.

"Motorists are reminded as summer continued,  if they see a suspected drunk driver call  911 as this is a true emergency," said Connecticut State Police Lt. LT.J.Paul Vance. "Help the State Police keep the highways and roadways of Connecticut safe."
