Bank Robbery Suspects Share Striking Resemblance

There's no official word that a serial bank robber is on the loose but take a look at the photos from recent heists in Durham, Killingworth and East Lyme and tell us if you think it's the same suspect.

While State Police have not said whether they are looking for a serial bank robber, a surveillance photo from Thursday's heist at the Liberty Bank in Durham would appear to some to share a striking resemblance to surveillance photos taken during two recent bank robberies in nearby Killingworth and East Lyme.

In all three robberies, the suspect wore a black baseball hat, black sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt and calmly entered the bank before handing the teller a note demanding cash.

Photos taken by a witness at the scene of Thursday's robbery show that a red dye pack exploded when the money was taken outside of the bank.

Police also said that the suspect was witnessed leaving in an red, older model Volvo station wagon, unlike the first two robberies in which no vehicle was reported.

In all three robberies the suspect has been described as being male, but many readers have said that the suspect resembles a woman.

Each of the robberies came about a month apart.

On October 11, a suspect walked into the Savings Institute Bank & Trust at 305 Flanders Road in East Lyme around 5 p.m. and robbed the bank.

On November 2, at about 1:15 p.m., the TD Bank at 184 Route 81 in Killingworth was robbed.

And on Thursday, at 2:49 p.m, a suspect entered the Liberty Bank branch at 357 Main Street in Durham and robbed it.

State police meanwhile are still searching for the suspect involved in last week's bank robbery at the TD Bank at 331 Main Street in Durham. No photos of the robbery have been released.

What do you think? Do you think the same person robbed all three banks?

I think it's a woman. The hands are feminine looking. Also, the mustache looked like fake.

It acts like a state trooper...stealing money from someone

Not the same person. Possibly one attempting to resemble the other.
