Attention Drawn to Hammonasset State Park Hidden Camera Incident

A hidden camera was found inside a bathhouse at the park on July 5.

An East Hartford woman and her two young children were showering in a bathhouse at a campground in Hammonasset State Park in July of 2011. She noticed someone watching her in the shower through a hole above the shower nozzle.

The victim had wished to remain anonymous, until now, according to a press release from the law office of Paul Levin and Andrew P. Garza, of Hartford.

In the press statement they said the victim in that 2011 incident will now come forward publicly after the latest privacy breach at Hammonasset (when a hidden camera was found inside a bathhouse at the park on July 5).

The attorneys say she felt compelled to come forward and share her story publicly. Her case did lead to the arrest and conviction of two state employees, the release states.

“This mother feels strongly that management is not taking peeping and voyeurism issues seriously at state parks. She will share new information at the news conference tomorrow and is calling for major policy reform that would better protect the public, including children,” the attorneys wrote in a release.
