Summer fitness routine

Getting in shape before summer is great. But how do you stick to your fitness routine even though the weather is nice and hot and all you want to do is play at the beach?

Before summer is here, almost everybody is really motivates to get in shape. But when the sun is shining and the temperature gets high, the beach or pool seems more fun that to go to the gym or for a run. And icecream, cold drinks, bbq and alcohol have its way to sneak into your diet. So how do you stick to your fitness routine even though the weather is nice?

Personally I try to get my cardio in as early as possible in the morning. When the sun isn´t to hot. I go for a run in Hammonasset or take my racer out for a bike ride. And when the sun rays are the strongest, around lunch to 3pm, I try to stay in the shade - and that is a perfect time for some strength training. I use dumbells, kettlebells or just my own body weight. If you can afford it a TRX is the best workout equipment ever. It´s like a hole gym that fits in your bag. You can use it at home, hanging it over a door, or outside and clip the carabiner around a tree or a light pole.

If you want to get some yoga into your summer routine I just added a few more classes to my schedule at Inner Strength Yoga on 32 Wall Street in Madison. A couple of morning classes and afternoon classes for all of you who wants to hang on the beach all day long. Check out the Summer Schedule here.
