Inner Strength Blog - Naturally Clean House

Your house might smell good, but did you know that your cleaning product can be full of toxic chemicals? The best cleaning products are already in your kitchen cabinet!

I try to live as green as I can. I only buy organic food and natural beauty products, I bring my own reusable bags at the store, I recycle and I drive a hybrid. But what about cleaning products? Well, I personally love Mrs Meyers and Method. Today you can get organic cleaning stuff at almost every grocery store. But you don´t have to buy cleaning stuff at all, most of it you probably already have at home in your kitchen cabinet. Here are my best green cleaning tips.

Baking Soda. This is the greatest cleaning product ever. Mix with water and make it into a past, apply to your bathtub, vanities or kitchen sink. Let stand for 20 minutes and rinse with hot water.

White Vinegar. Put one cup in a spray bottle with water. Clean counter tops, tile and floors. You can put in a few drops of your favourite organic essential oil for a nice smell. I prefer lemongrass or lavender.

Lemon. Lemon juice will help keep your white clothes white. Put 50ml in the compartment for fabric softeners. If you can, let the clothes dry outside in the sun.

Essential oils. Skip the fabric softener sheets and instead put a damp towel with a few drops of oil in your dryer. Your clothes will smell awesome.

Orange peels. Scented candles and room fresheners are toxic and the chemicals are being linked to cancer, asthma and eczema. Put orange peels in a pot with water and put on low heat on your stove. You can also throw in some fresh rosmary. Your house will smell naturally fresh.
