Patch's Poll: Is John Edwards Guilty?

Did the former presidential candidate break the law, or is he just the world's worst husband? Take our poll and add your thoughts in the comments.

The jury in the John Edwards' corruption trial was set to begin deliberations today.

Edwards is charged with six criminal counts including conspiracy to violate the Federal Election Campaign Act, accepting contributions that exceeded campaign finance limits, and causing his campaign to file a false financial disclosure report. He faces up to 30 years in prison and $1.5 million in fines if convicted of all charges.

"At issue is a scheme to use about $1 million from two wealthy campaign donors to hide the Democrat's pregnant mistress Rielle Hunter as he ran for the White House in 2008," said the Associated Press in a report Friday morning.

I think he is guilty of very bad decisions because of his own selfish greed. He has no excuse for his behavior. He is all I,Me and Mine like the terrible "Two's". He never grew up and his decisions jeopardized his family's hope, trust and happiness. He now has to live with his damage.

Polls like this are a part of the problem with our society. Pleas edit you title with the lead "Do you think......" because it is not up to the public to decide guilt or innocence, but rather the jury of his peers as set forth by the Constitution. It is not the job of government to do what is popular, but instead to do what is just.

It is amazing that 61 % of Patch readers think he is innocent. CT is a state where murders of children are protected from the death penalty so why should a person such as Edwards receive recrimination ? This shows how far as a society we have turned against any individual responsibilites and consequences for our actions. Edwards was worth close to 250 million dollars from winning an award against the tobacco industry. However that was not enough money for this egotistical person. So instead of spending his money to hide his mistress he bilked a 95 year old woman for one million dollar donation to shield his lover until he became vice president of the country. Can you imagine if this man became vice president and had this value system to guide his actions for this country ? Only Chris Dodd and Michael Vick could find this man innocent of any wrong doing.
