Robert Lynde Sypher, 91, of Madison, passed away Friday February 22, 2013 after a 6 month illness. Read his obituary here

Burton Winthrop Gesner died at Middlesex Hospital - Hospice on Monday, February 25, 2013, surrounded by his family. Read his obituary here.

[Gesner] was one of the original members of the Madison-Guilford Future Farmers of America in the early 1930's and a member for 65 years in the Guilford Grange. He was also a member of the Republican Town Committee, the Wetlands Committee and an honorary member and past president of the North Madison Volunteer Fire Department where he joined before WWII when they had only 20 members. Also a Madison Rotarian, he served on the Board of Directors and more recently was honored as a recipient of the Paul E. Harris Award. He was also a former member of the Shoreline Old Car Club and a communicant of St Margaret's Church. He and Dot built their own home in 1945 where they raised their family. He planted nice vegetable gardens and shared the crops with friends and neighbors each summer and sold Christmas trees each season. Their family was well known for raising pet deer, "Snowflake" and her babies who had many visitors over a 20-year span of time.

Lawrence J. Curtin, USN (ret.), 90, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Feb. 20, 2013, in Coronado, CA. Read his obituary here.  

[Curtin's] adventures brought him back to Connecticut from 1971-1980 where he served as Commander of the Naval and Marine Corps. Training Center at Fort Nathan Hale in New Haven. He and his family lived during that time in Madison, where two of his sons, Stephen and Gregory, graduated from Daniel Hand High, and his youngest daughter Victoria completed elementary school at Our Lady of Mercy. Larry enjoyed 47 years of marriage with the love of his life, Nadine Sherwood, until her death in 1992.
