Mets Memorabilia In Madison Basement Leads To Guilty Plea

Charlie Samuels, former Mets clubhouse manager, will be sentenced on April 16.

 

Mets memorabilia valued at nearly $2.3 million was recovered in Nov. 2010 from a Madison basement, and the man responsible for the criminal possession, former Mets clubhouse manager, Charlie Samuels, pleaded guilty to the charges, Bloomberg.com reported.

“The defendant had a dream job that any Mets fan would die for and he blew it,” Queens County District Attorney Richard Brown said in the article. “He allowed his greed to get the better of him.”

In addition to charges of criminal possession of stolen property, Samuels also pleaded guilty to criminal tax fraud charges, the article says.
