These Are The Days

Life, schedules, plans, imperfections, family, blog, writing,

It's Friday morning. I sit down to write my blogpost for Patch. I open my laptop and sign in. I'm all set. First I check our local Patch news. I read about the high school football game tonight. It's a big game. We live in a great town with loyal fans who come out in droves to support our team. We'll be there too.

Click. With one tap of the button, the laptop's on and information comes spilling out...e-mails, blogs, facebook, google. I pause...there's an article about the trends of real estate. I'm curious. I feel like it's an indicator of the economy. Who knows. Let's see.

Before I click to my "New Blog Post", I notice Property Transfers and click. Hmmm. How are houses priced these days? Interesting to note.Another article catches my eye. What's the deal with medical marajuana? It may happen eventually. Let me read some statistics. Those drug and alcohol statistics always scare me. I read them anyway.

Just before clicking on my new blog post, I scan the Patch home page. Look! It's an estate sale and it's this weekend! Where? I'll have to text my friend, another tag sale afficianado, to see if she'd like to meet at the sale. It's fun to get up and out early on Saturday mornings. If we meet at the sale, we'll each have coffee in hand as we meander through the sale... assessing prices, chatting, checking out deals, encouraging a purchase or being the voice of reason. If we can coordinate schedule, it's worth the try. Fall. 'Tis the season.

My cell phone sits by my laptop and rings. I have to answer. It's a college friend. We've been playing phone tag for a week, just to say happy birthday. It seems we have much more to talk about. We take time and catch up.

I want to write. What to write about? No need to bore people with a Friday To Do list. It's chilly. I'll have another cup of coffee. I look out the window. It's raining.

Coffee in hand, I go back to the purring laptop. I glance at my e-mails to read the quote of the day. As usual, it's fitting:

"Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing flawlessly."

Robert H. Schuller

So that's that. I realize this is my blog post...this is my morning....this is my life:

-Walk the dog. Short walk

-Feed dog-Write shopping list

-Empty dishwasher. Fill with morning dishes

-Collect laundry. Start wash

-Organize baseement storage bins

-Sit down at laptop. Write blog for Patch

-Cat meows. Let cat out

-Read e-mails. Respond

-Make cup of coffee

-Swtich laundry load and add more to washer

-Cat meows. Let the cat in

-Feed the cat

-Message my niece on facebook to coordinate plans

-Empty dryer and fold. Add more laundry to washer

-Put coffee in the microwave. Reheat

-Sit down with laptop to write

-Cat meows. Let cat out

-Dog whines to go out

-Finish writing?

-Walk the dog

It's my life. As for that quote, it's perfect. I'm the perfectly imperfect poster child. It's all okay. The distractions are there for all of us. Computers. TV's. Phones. We do the best we can. We all do our best to prioritize. Moms multitask. I think everyone multi tasks. It's life. Everyday. Family. Plans. Interruptions. Dogs. Work. Family. Emergencies. Cats. Family. It's life.

Still, life is good. I'm grateful. I may not be perfect. I do my best to keep my priorities straight. I want to do the best with what I have each day. Family and friends matter. It's important to treasure each day...perfect or imperfect. Soon enough, these days will be the good old days.
