Sunset Beach Designs, LLC owner, Leslie Benham Kohnke, a decorator and artist, opened retail space in Wetmore’s Marina July 2012. With white bead-board walls and artistic displays, showcasing her work and that of exceptional regional artists, one can’t help feel uplifted while shopping here. Charm, whimsy and elegance intermingle in this unique shop. Customers often comment they feel like they are in Nantucket or Block Island. Images of sailboats, crabs, sea glass and nautical charts accent items throughout the store. Merchandise will transition to reflect the changing seasons, but will always be in the spirit of the shore.
Kohnke also provides professional decorating services for the home or boat, including upholstering, color consultation and picture framing. Kohnke is a member of Design Source CT located in Hartford, an invaluable resource for decorators and designers. Alterations and sweater repair services are offered as well.
