Health & Fitness

MADE Stronger – This week's theme – Making small changes!

Last week I discussed how my husband and I decided that too much junk food had crept into our house.  So when we went shopping this week, we skipped the soda, added more yogurt and got some energy breakfast bars.  No one has noticed that soda is missing, almost everyone likes the yogurt, but the breakfast bars we bought for our son had a little too much fiber!  We made these decisions as a family, although my children may say that Joe and I had more input than they did.

This week was also the start of Lent.  Instead of giving up something, my daughter is adding more outdoor exercise to her daily routine.  As we were talking about this, we decided to try to do daily 30 minute walks together.  This will give us some outdoor time and time together.  I gave up chocolate candy.  This is one of my weaknesses – how bad is a small handful of M&Ms? I ask myself.  Well if you have that small handful several times a day, the chocolate intake adds up (and adds to the hips!).

So the challenge for next week – make one small change to your daily routine.  Take a walk, skip a snack, or buy the salad at lunch instead of the sandwich.  You will be surprised by what one small change can do for you the wellness of your body, mind, heart and soul.
