Madison End of Summer Clam Dig and Oyster Harvest

On September 22nd and 23rd, the Madison Shellfish Commission is sponsoring its End of the Summer Clam Dig and Oyster Harvest at the Surf Club on Garvan Point from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

On September 22nd and 23rd, the Madison Shellfish Commission is sponsoring its End of the Summer Clam Dig and Oyster Harvest at the Surf Club on Garvan Point from 10:00am to 1:00pm. This event will feature Madison Raised Oysters that will be stocked in the beach area along with Little Neck Clams and Cherrystones. This is a family event with a special section designated for small children. Prizes will be awarded to the lucky individuals that find painted clams.

No experience is needed, members of the commission will supply clam rakes and will demonstrate clamming techniques to beginners. A shellfish license is required and can be purchased on site at the Surf Club on the day of the event. Licences are also sold at the Town Campus and Captain Morgan’s. For out of town visitors, special one day $25 passes will be available on the day of the event at the Surf Club. This event is weather permitting, check the Shellfish hot line at 245-5600 option 3 for conditions. Parking area at the Surf Club will be open for this event.
