Fabulous Windows!

Check out how to have fabulous windows! j

I thought I would spend a few blogs on window treatments!  I find they are the most challenging part of decorating.  There are so many things to consider to make them look correct.  This week we will look at custom window treatments and I will try and point out some of the pros and cons.

With custom window treatments you are getting help from a professional, so the first thing you need to do is make sure you are working with a qualified individual.  Check to see if they are certified and always get referrals!   I have a certification from the Window Coverings Association, which means I had to take a course and pass a test. That doesn't always mean someone is good at what they do, which is why I recommend referrals.  Once you are working with someone, they can help you to design a treatment that you love and that will fit your window.  You would be amazed at how some styles will not work in certain situations!  I help people to choose the correct fabric, style, and design for them and their specific windows.  If you look at the window above you will see how beautiful it is. It fits the window perfectly. I love how the plaids meet on the folds of the roman shades!  The band and bow are also a wonderful touch.  You can also see how the fabric coordinates with the wall color.

When you are designing custom window treatments everything is perfect! So - I have told you all the pros - what about the cons? The biggest and only con is price!!  They are NOT inexpensive! So, if you love beautiful window treatments - start saving! You will not regret it! For those of you who are unable to budget for custom - stay tuned for next weeks blog when I will give some tips on how to achieve a more custom look for less! j
