Most people I know love color but are so afraid to use it when they are decorating. I see many, many rooms that are all beige. Does this describe your room? If you love neutrals you are fine but if you love color you are probably unhappy. Using color correctly is one of the more challenging aspects of decorating!
If you look at this picture I found at Better Homes and Garden, you can see such a wonderful use of color! This room just has so much energy and yet you do not feel overpowered by it. Here they have started with a neutral sofa. If you note, the floor is also neutral. I love the dark chocolate walls to offset the white sofa. What really catches your eye is the orange. For those of you on a budget just look at how you can easily make your neutral go from boring to brilliant! There are really very few touches of orange (therefore not much to purchase!) to make such a huge impact. The other wonderful thing is that if you want to update it is easy to change out the pieces that are orange to a different color and repaint your room.
