Plan Ahead Now For Perseids Meteor Shower Saturday At 3 a.m.

It's a great excuse to stay up really, really late ...

If you’re looking for something to do around 3 a.m. on Aug. 13, head outside to see the Perseid meteor shower at its peak! (Note: You can start watching for the Perseids right now, as the number of meteors builds gradually.)

This annual show-in-the-sky can be a great excuse for your family to camp out under the stars, stay up late, or get up really, really early!

You’ll want to be away from city lights and use your naked eye to see these meteors (to see as much of the sky as possible). Your best viewing options are in the hours before dawn (between midnight and dawn).

Snuggle with your family, let your eyes scan the sky aimlessly, and enjoy!

Check out NASA’s website for more information. (There’s a live Web chat about the Perseids meteor shower starting at 11 p.m. tonight! - click on the link!)
