What To Do Thanksgiving Weekend In Madison

Happy Thanksgiving from the
Madison Chamber of Commerce

As Thanksgiving approaches, we are grateful for all of our blessings and mindful that the Holiday season "officially" begins this weekend.  The Madison Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors wishes you and your family a safe and wonderful holiday.

What's happening in Madison?

Wednesday night at 7:00, the Daniel Hand Tigers take on the Guilford Indians at Guilford High School.  Head on over for some Wednesday night lights!

If you thought that Wilbur Cross was a high school, or a highway, you're right on both counts, but most notably he served as Governor of Connecticut from 1931 to 1939.   Please click here to read his famous 1936 Thanksgiving proclamation, and be reminded of the true meaning of this holiday.

Thanksgiving Day: why not burn off a few (or a lot of) calories before eating too much stuffing?  The Madison Jaycees Annual Turkey Trot
takes place at Hammonasset State Park at 10am.

After seeing your aging parents this Holiday, are you concerned about their well being?  The Hearth at Tuxis Pond located at 100 Bradley Road, Madison is hosting an Open House on Friday, November 29th from 1-4pm.  Come learn about the services they offer, tour their beautiful community and discover how their residents (and residents' families) benefit from the care-free lifestyle they offer.  Refreshments will be served.  Please call Kathy at 203-245-3311 for more information. The Hearth at Tuxis Pond offers independent and assisted living, plus our Keepsake Village for the memory-impaired.

LOVE YOUR LOCAL!  When you buy goods and services from merchants located in Madison, the money you spend stays in our community. Those dollars support the essential services that we all rely on, including public safety, parks and more. In addition, schools and community programs are supported in this way. Shopping at our local businesses is something we can all do to better grow our local economy. Your support will allow our local business owners to remain strong and be around for next year's holiday season, too. In that vein, Small Business Saturday is this weekend!  Remember to LOVE YOUR LOCAL and support the retailers who are the backbone of our downtown.  To learn more, please click here

Lots of great author events coming sponsored by RJ Julia in the next few weeks, including Wally Lamb this Saturday the 30th at the Madison Beach Hotel!  Please click here for more information on coming events.

This Sunday, December 1 - see Hungrytown perform at a concert at the Scranton Library.
