Madison Land Conservation Trust Annual Meeting

The Madison Land Conservation Trust will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 7:00 pm in Memorial Town Hall .   The keynote speaker will be Daniel Esty, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP).  His topic is "Protecting Our Environment in Turbulent Times."

DEEP is the newly-formed agency designed to integrate energy and environmental policies and programs in a more systematic, proactive and coherent manner.  Commissioner Esty was appointed in March 2011 by Governor Dannel P. Malloy.  Prior to joining DEEP, Commissioner Esty was the Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy at Yale University .  He also served as Director of the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy and the Center for Business and the Environment at Yale.

Commissioner Esty is author or editor of numerous books and articles on environmental policy and corporate strategy as it relates to environmental issues.  He has held several senior positions in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, practiced law in Washington, DC , and served as an adviser to President Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and transition team.  Commissioner Esty holds a B.A. from Harvard, an M.A. from Oxford , and a law degree from Yale.  A native of Connecticut , he now lives in Cheshire .
