“Going Dutch (and Flemish) Art in Seventeenth-Century Flanders and the Dutch Republic”

“Going Dutch (and Flemish) Art in Seventeenth-Century Flanders and the Dutch Republic” is the Galleries in Motion topic for the popular art slide lecture series with Joy Pepe returning in January 2013.


 Joy M. Pepe is Professor Emerita of Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts who currently teaches various Art History courses at University of Hartford and Central Connecticut State University.

Hosted by the Scranton Memorial Library and the Guilford Free Library the series features four Wednesday lectures starting with two January 23 and January 30 at Scranton Library, Madison, followed by two in Guilford, February 6 and 13 at the Guilford Free Library on the Guilford Green. All lectures start at 2 PM.


 The four lectures feature The Painter Diplomat: Sir Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), The Courtly Virtuoso: Sir Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641),

 Everyone is invited to one or all of these free lectures sponsored by the Friends of the Scranton Memorial Library and the Friends of the Guilford Library. Both Friends groups provide refreshments for the events.


 Snow date for a cancelled program is Wednesday,
February 20 at Guilford Free Library.
