Summer STEAM Evenings at The Country School

As part of its mission to advance STEAM and 21st century skills, The Country School is holding Summer STEAM Evenings on July 11 and 17, 2013, from 5:30-7 p.m. Students in Grades 5-7 are invited to participate in one or both of these hands-on learning experiences, while parents are encouraged to attend an information session to learn why cross-disciplinary activities that engage students in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (or STEAM) can be both deeply meaningful and uniquely fun for students.

On July 11th, the subject will be Robotics; on the 17th, participants will engage in a design challenge. A light dinner will be served both evenings. These events are free, but participants are asked to pre-register. Go to www.thecountryschool.org/summersteam.

With dedicated STEAM faculty and two STEAM labs, The Country School has made advancing STEAM education a priority. Later this month, the PreSchool-8th Grade independent school will hold the Second Annual 21st Century Innovation Teacher Institute with a focus on arts integration and brain-targeted learning strategies. Tom Pilecki, co-author of From STEM to STEAM: Using Brain-Compatible Strategies to Integrate the Arts, will be the keynote speaker. (More on the summer Teacher Institute at www.thecountryschool.org/teacherinstitute.)

The Country School also offers several STEAM-related opportunities during Summer Fun and Learning, the school's summer camp program. Visit www.thecountryschool.org/summerprogram for details.

Located at 341 Opening Hill Road in Madison, The Country School serves students ages 3-14 on its 23-acre campus. At The Country School, a rigorous academic program is accompanied by a commitment to hands-on learning and discovery and a focus on the whole child. The Country School prepares students to meet the future with confidence, encouraging them to reach their highest, both in school and in life.
