McPherson Wins

Jennifer Tung, Joe MacDougald, and Sharon Kokoruda will be seated on the Board of Finance.

First Selectman Fillmore McPherson has been re-elected, according to Madison Town Clerk Nancy Martucci.

McPherson won a total of 2,641 votes. His challenger, Democrat Seth Klaskin won 1,573 . Klaskin's vote total left him without a seat on the board. In addition to McPherson, Diane Stadterman won reelection (2,163) along with Joan Walker (1851) and Al Goldberg (1,948). In addition to those incumbents, Robert Hale (2,052) also won a seat.

Board of Finance Chair Jennifer Tung won reelection with 2,584 votes. Her fellow Republicans MacDougald (2,602) and Kokoruda (2,703) also will be seated on the Board of Finance. Their Democratic challengers Ainsworth and Greene will not.

The moderators at the District 1 polls, at the Madison Senior Center, reported a brisk turnout of voters in today's municipal elections. Likewise, moderators at the District 2 polling place, at Brown Middle School, also reported a steady stream of visitors. At Brown Middle School, there was a line awaiting the moderators when they opened the doors at 6 a.m.

While it was too early to tell for sure, as of mid-afternoon on Tuesday, Nov. 5th, it looked like voter turnout might exceed that of the last municipal elections, moderators said.
