Newly Elected Madison Town Officials Sworn In Tuesday



Madison's newly elected town officials were sworn in by Town Clerk Nancy Martucci Tuesday morning, during a meeting of the Board of Selectmen.

While there were a few who could not make it, but those who could raised their right hand and solemnly swore or sincerely affirmed that they would support the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of Connecticut, and the Charter of the town of Madison, and that they would faithfully discharge according to law the duties of their elected office to the best of their ability under penalty of perjury.

The newly elected officials who could not make it Tuesday morning had already arranged to be sworn in Tuesday evening or on another date, Martucci said. 

Also at the Board of Selectmen meeting Tuesday, Selectman Diane Stadterman was appointed Acting First Selectman. That means she will take over in the absence of First Selectman Fillmore McPherson in the event that is necessary. 

The board also adopted the 2014 Board of Selectmen meeting schedule. The board will continue to meet on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, with the meetings on the second Monday taking place in the morning, and the meetings on the fourth Monday's taking place in the evening. The board also appointed Selectman Bob Hale and Selectman Joan Walker to the Joint Facilities Project Review Committee (JFPRC). Other committee and liaison appointments will be made at a later date, the selectmen said.
