From the Friends of the New Haven Animal Shelter:
Waldo is a 3 year old American bulldog mix. He's a sweet boy who knows his manners and is great in so many ways - he rides nicely in the car, walks well on the leash, sits and relaxes when given a bath, and has learned his sit command and will now drop a ball when he plays fetch! We think he is a great dog and would love for him to get a new home soon.
The American Kennel Club says the bulldog can be a great family dog:
Bulldogs are recognized as excellent family pets because of their tendency to form strong bonds with children. They tend to be gentle and protective. The breed requires minimal grooming and exercise. Their short nose makes them prone to overheating in warm weather, so make sure to provide a shady place to rest.
