We're Looking At The Possibility Of Rain Or Snow, Or Rain And Snow

But We Also Might Get A Nice Weekend With Some Sun, The National Weather Service Says

The National Weather Service says an area of low pressure is moving through the area, creating some unpredictable weather. But that low pressure system, and the rain and snow it is expected to bring with it, could clear into the Canadian Maritime Provinces by Saturday morning, just possibly leaving us with a sunny and breezy weekend, the NWS says.

The heaviest precipitation currently extends from southeastern Massachusetts through Rhode Island, into the extreme eastern end of Long Island. As of very early Friday morning, temperatures had fallen into the mid-30s, bringing snow and mixed precipitation to some of that area.

Here is the forecast for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service:

Thursday Overnight: Rain before 4am, then rain and snow. Low around 33. North wind between 9 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Friday: Rain, snow, and sleet, becoming all rain after 9am. High near 40. North wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Friday Night: A chance of rain, mainly before 11pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 34. West wind between 11 and 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. West wind between 11 and 13 mph.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Northwest wind around 8 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny and breezy, with a high near 49.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 32.

Monday: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
