The water is bubbling up from a hole in on Middle Beach West and flowing into a storm runoff drain and into property on the north side of Middle Beach West right at the intersection of Island Avenue.

Dispatchers said Tuesday morning that the problem does not appear as though it will have an effect on traffic going to and from Island Avenue Elementary School, which is further north near the intersection with Boston Post Road.

Work on the problem was getting underway by 7 a.m., with two workers from Connecticut Water Company evaluating the problem. One of the workers said their initial evaluation indicated that road work would have to be done to repair the problem, and that the work could take several hours or up to a day.
