Tree Falls On Truck During Torrential Downpour Thursday; Driver Extricated By Madison Fire Department

Police Asking Witnesses To Accident To Please Contact Them

A Toyota pickup truck was hit by a falling tree during a torrential rain storm Thursday, police say. The truck was driving eastbound on U.S. Rt. 1, Boston Post Road, near the junction of Signal Hill Road around 2:24 p.m. on Thursday June 23rd when the accident happened.

The driver was the sole occupant and had to be extricated from the vehicle by members of the Madison Hose Company. He was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital by Madison Ambulance.

Rt 1 was closed for approximately one hour while traffic was re-routed around the accident scene. State D.O.T. utilized chainsaws and a front loader to clear the roadway.
