The Great Heat, The North Atlantic Oscillation And Why We Should Care

The Friends of Hammonasset annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 12th at 7:00pm at the Old Town Hall, 8 Meetinghouse Lane, Madison (next to the Madison Green).

Following a brief business meeting, Tim Visel, Coordinator for the Sound School Regional Aquacultural Center in New Haven will speak about “Clinton Harbor and the Great Heat”. This fascinating presentation will cover the period from 1880-1920 known as “The Great Heat” and the great cool-down of the North Atlantic Oscillation of the 1950s and how these dynamic periods affected the ecology of coastal habitats and the business of coastal fisheries.
