That's One Fat Pumpkin! (With Video)

1,478 pound giant gourd at Durham Fair is the largest pumpkin ever grown in Connecticut.

Ken Desrosiers of Broad Brook, CT, took top prize at the Durham Fair pumpkin weigh-in Wednesday night when his giant gourd tipped the scales at 1,487.5 pounds.

Desrosiers started growing the pumpkin in June, according to NBC 30. To watch a time lapse video of it click here.

Other entries include a pumpkin weighing 1,256 pounds grown by Matthew DeBacco of Rocky Hill and a 93.5 pound pumpkin grown by Kelly Shoneck of Meriden.

The top three heaviest pumpkins earn $1 per pound (over 300lbs) in cash prizes for their growers.
