Sunny Monday; Then Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Possible Later This Week

A low-pressure system could move in Wednesday or Thursday, creating unsettled weather.

We may see clear skies, dry weather, and even some sunshine Monday, the National Weather Service says in its latest forecast.

But, later this week, a low pressure system is expected to develop over the Mid-Atlantic region and deepen significantly as it tracks northward through this area Wednesday through Thursday, the NWS says. "Although the exact track and intensity fo this storm remains uncertain, the potential exists for heavy rain and strong winds across the tri-state region," the NWS says.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 67. West wind between 10 and 16 mph.

Monday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 47. West wind between 7 and 11 mph.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Light wind becoming west between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Night: Rain likely, mainly after midnight. Patchy fog after 9pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Calm wind becoming northeast between 4 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Rain. High near 66. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Rain likely, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 61. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 58.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 45.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 59.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 49.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61.
