Severe Thunderstorms Passing Through

On Track To Pass Through North Madison In Next Few Hours

The Madison 911 Twitter Feed has issued a notice that severe thunderstorms are moving through Fairfield County and are on track to move through North Madison in the next few hours. The notice was issued at 1:20 p.m. Thursday.

In addition, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for southern New Haven County until 4 p.m.

"At 2:03 p.m., the National Weather Service doppler radar indicated flash flooding from thunderstorms along a line extending from North Branford to Guilford to 13 miles south of Branford, or along a line extending from 7 miles southeast of Wallingford to Guilford to 10 north of Wading River, moving east at 25 mph," the National Weather Service said. "Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, highways and underpasses. Additionally, county roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks, streams, and other low-lying areas are subject to change."

Graduation is still scheduled to take place Thursday at 6:00 p.m. on the Madison Green.
Gates will open at 5:15 p.m. Graduates should report to the Academy School by 5:15 p.m. In the unfortunate event of thunderstorms, graduation will take place on Friday, June 24, at 10:00 a.m.

In that case parents will be notified by an automated phone call and eNotify message after 3:00 p.m.. As well, notification will be posted on the DHHS website at www.danielhand.org or cable channel 19, and on Madison Patch.

New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 7am. Areas of fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Areas of fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 64. Southeast wind between 3 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Areas of fog before 9am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 76. East wind 5 to 9 mph becoming southwest. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.
