Roberts Food Center Open, Plaza Has Power Back

Open until 8 p.m. today; Open regular hours tomorrow, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Hot foods being served today; They also have ice.

Robertss Food Center in the North Madison Plaza has power and is open, says owner Bob Fusco.

"We had to throw everything that was refrigerated out," Fusco said. "So we are short on those items. But we will have milk, eggs and dairy tomorrow."

Fusco said Roberts, at 514 Toll Road close to the traffic circle, does have ice today. They also are serving hot foods and are selling dry goods off the shelves as well. "We can do credit cards. Well, not right this second, but in about five minutes," he said Thursday at 3:27 p.m.

The downtown retail district in Madison also is back on power and many businesses are open, including the Madison Coffee Shop, which is doing a brisk business. Starbucks on the Boston Post Road is jammed with people, most of them looking intently at their computer screens, as they power up and take advantage of the WiFi.

Outage figures for Madison have fluctuated as sections of the town go on line and then lose power, or taken back off line as repairs are made. Current outage figures, as reported by CL&P, show that 77 percent of the town is without power, a significant improvement from Wednesday, when it was over 90 percent.
