Possibility of Heavy Rain Sunday Into Monday Night

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook, saying there is a small chance of flash flooding Sunday into Monday; Looks like it might rain Saturday; Friday should be sunny, so enjoy it while it lasts.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Sunday into Monday, saying there is the potential for around two to three inches of rainfall across the tri-state area during that time.

"While urban and poor drainage flooding will be the main threat, there is a small chance of flash flooding," the NWS said.

The National Weather Service Hydrometeorological Prediction Center said that "after an extended stretch of dry weather over the eastern third of the country, a widespread rainfall event is becoming likely from Florida to New England as a cold front interacts with a moisture-rich air mass from the Gulf of Mexico."

The heaviest rain is forecast for the deep south and Florida, and there could be snow in parts of Canada, but it looks like Madison might get its share of rain. As long as it's not too heavy, that could be welcome relief to an area that has had multiple Red Flag warnings recently due to dry weather that has contributed to .

Here is the extended forecast for Madison:

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 64 near the shore to 67 in North Madison. South wind between 3 and 11 mph.

Friday Night: A slight chance of showers after 11pm. Increasing clouds, with a low around 50. South wind between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between noon and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. South wind between 5 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday Night: Showers likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 47. North wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday: Showers likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 60. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: Rain. Low around 45. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 57. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 57.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 59.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 43.
