Petrillo's Opens In New Location

For some, change is good. For others, the break from what’s comfortable and familiar can send them into a tailspin.

The change in ownership at the former L.L. Lowrie’s Pub & Grille combines a little of both.  The restaurant at 51 Boston Post Road re-opened May 9 as Petrillo’s Pizza, Pub & Grill. New owners Glem Gazzillo and Eddie Dautaj, who spun pizzas and fried their signature chicken cutlets at their old location at 1317 Boston Post Road, bought Lowrie’s business.

The larger quarters – the space features a dining room and separate bar – allowed Gazzillo and Dautaj to expand their menu. But, the co-owners decided not to start from scratch. “We’ve extended the menu,” Dautaj says. “We put the Lowrie’s menu and Petrillo’s menu together and added more items.”

Petrillo’s design-your-own and specialty pizza menu remains the same as does Lowrie’s large appetizer list, including nachos and General Tso’s chicken tenders.  A variety of ½-pound steak burgers offers an alternative to more traditional entrees such as ziti with meatballs and pan-fried chicken cutlets topped with eggplant, mozzarella and ricotta.

Gazzillo and Dautaj left the dining room intact but remodeled the kitchen and installed new ovens and refrigerators. They will continue to offer delivery service to Madison and expect to increase the service to Guilford, Dautaj says.   The restaurant is opens Monday through Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at noon and will serve until 10 p.m. or later.
