People's Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Arrest Made at 11:34 p.m. Friday

On Friday at approximately 11:34 p.m. the members of the Madison Police Department Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance of the Old Saybrook Police Department arrested several suspects in connection with the robbery earlier that day of  Peoples Bank in Madison.

 Old Saybrook Police Department officers were able to identify Marc J. Barbeau, of Old Saybrook, as the primary suspect in this mornings Peoples Bank robbery.  Madison Police Department Detectives responded to Old Saybrook and with the help of the Old Saybrook officers were able to locate Barbeau in a local motel.  Further investigation revealed three other participants in this case.

The individuals listed below have been arrested for the following charges:

 Marc J. Barbeau, 44, 7 North Main Street, Old Saybrook charged with C.G.S. 53a -134 robbery in the 1st degree, C.G.S. 53a -125 larceny in the 4th degree, C.G.S. 53a - 62 threatening in the 2nd degree, C.G.S. 53a -181 breach of peace.  Barbeau was also arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for: C.G.S. 53a – 173 failure to appear. Barbeau was held on a $100,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in GA 23 in New Haven on May 31, 2011.

Lisa Chasse, 42, 7 North Main Street, Old Saybrook charged with C.G.S.53a - 166 hindering prosecution, C.G.S.53a - 167a interfering, C.G.S.53a - 125b larceny in the 6th degree. Chasse was released on a $2000.00 non surety bond.  Scheduled to appear June 7, 2011

Michael R. Molyneux, 43, 7 North Main Street, Old Saybrook charged with 53a - 166 hindering prosecution, 53a - 167a interfering. Molyneux was released on a $2000.00 non surety bond. Scheduled to Appear June 7, 2011

A juvenile was also arrested for:  C.G.S. 53a - 167a interfering. The juvenile was released into the custody of a parent.
