Winter Weather Advisory In Effect Until 10 a.m. Friday [Video]

Tractor-trailer accident in East Lyme closed down I-95 Southbound and Northbound as of 6:27 a.m., according to reports.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory, which is in effect until 10 a.m. Friday.

Hazards include snow accumulations of two to four inches, mixed with rain or sleet at times. "Some untreated surfaces, especially bridges and overpasses could become quite slippery this morning. ... Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, use caution while driving," the NWS says.

I-95 Southbound and Northbound was closed down as of 6:20 a.m. due to a jack-knifed tractor-trailer truck, according to reports. Madison police are reporting an accident with no injuries on the Boston Post Road at the intersection of Neck Road as of about 7 a.m.

In addition to the winter weather advisory, the National Weather Service also has issued a wind advisory for most of Connecticut and Long Island. "Strong gusty winds are expected Friday night and Saturday," the NWS says. "Damaging winds are possible across New York City and Long Island." The wind advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Here is the current forecast for North Madison, Killingworth, Durham, and Middlefield:

 Today: Periods of rain, snow, and sleet, becoming all rain after 1pm. High near 39. East wind between 6 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tonight: Showers, mainly before midnight. Low around 33. Breezy, with a north wind 8 to 11 mph increasing to between 18 and 21 mph. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a west wind between 23 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 23. Northwest wind between 14 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 39. Northwest wind between 9 and 14 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Windy, with a west wind around 26 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 27. Blustery, with a northwest wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 40. Northwest wind between 9 and 14 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25.
