National Weather Service Warns About Black Ice Wednesday Morning

New London, New Haven, Fairfield and Middlesex counties affected by warning

 

The National Weather Service has issued a special alert cautioning residents to be aware of the potential for black ice tonight through mid-morning Wednesday.

“Plenty of low-level moisture over the region tonight may lead ot the development of black ice especially on those surfaces that remain untreated. The icy conditions are expected to dissipate by mid morning. Motorists and pedestrians should use extra caution when venturing out tonight and Wednesday morning,” the statement read.

  • Today Increasing clouds, with a high near 47. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.
  • Tonight Mostly clear, with a low around 29. Northwest wind around 7 mph.

  • Thursday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 24. North wind 3 to 7 mph.
  • Friday A chance of rain after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
  • Friday Night A chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 39. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Saturday Partly sunny, with a high near 49.
  • Saturday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 36.
  • Sunday Partly sunny, with a high near 51.
  • Sunday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37.
  • Monday A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Monday Night A chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Tuesday A chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 45. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
