After being hammered by Irene, critical thoroughfare is under construction by the town at the same time homeowners grapple with repairs.
If you've been down to Middle Beach, or if you've seen the pictures, you know how hard hit it was.
Here are some more pictures, which show the ferocity of the waves. Looking at these pictures, it's easy to understand why the damage is so significant down there and feel a small bit of relief it was not worse.
