Key to Awesomeness:  Elaine took a very personal experience and turned it into an essay that caught the eye of judges reading thousands of essays from across the United States and Canada.   Elaine is very modest about her accomplishment, “It’s an easy thing to do. Write about what you love. If you do a good job, you can get a little prize,” she says.  Elaine says she has never won anything like this before, but it is inspiring her to continue writing. “Once you’ve won you kind of feel like ‘Oh, maybe I could do it again.’  Maybe I could get better,’” she says.
