Light Snow, Sleet Forecast For Monday

The commute home Monday evening could be a messy one.

The National Weather Service is forecasting that we'll get up to an inch of snow in the afternoon, starting around 1 p.m., before it turns over to sleet and rain in the evening.

The chance of snow is 70%, according to the weather service.

The good news is that temperatures are climbing back from the arctic blast that set in during the past week. Temperatures will break the freezing point on Monday, with a high of 34 predicted. The low expected is 32.

The wet weather will likely continue through the week, as the weather service is forecasting a chance of rain through Thursday.

• Monday Snow likely, mainly after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 33. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
• Monday Night Freezing rain and sleet likely before 9pm, then rain and sleet likely between 9pm and 1am, then a chance of rain after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 30. South wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Tuesday A slight chance of rain or drizzle before noon, then a chance of drizzle. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. West wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Tuesday Night A chance of rain or drizzle, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Wednesday A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
• Wednesday Night Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
• Thursday A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
• Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 22.
