Island Avenue Elementary School And North Madison Congregational Church Receive Energy Awards

Efforts To Become More Environmentally Sensitive Praised

Island Avenue Elementary School and the North Madison Congregational Church were honored Thursday by the Department of Public Utility Control (DPUC) and the Energy Efficiency Fund for their efforts to make their buildings more environmentally sensitive.

The South West Connecticut Summer Savers Awards were given to about 20 businesses and organizations for their efforts to use less energy through retrofitting their light fixtures, installing self-sustaining energy systems and produce less carbon.

State Rep. Noreen Kokoruda and DPUC Chairman Kevin Delgobbo attended the event. Becky Coffey, the Chair of the Madison Board Of Education, accepted for the Island Avenue Elementary School and Robert Osso, North Madison Congregational Church sexton, accepted on behalf of the church.
