Talk Features More Than 70 Cards Of Madison, East River and Hammonasset In The Decades Before World War I

Local collector Henry Griggs will discuss the history of postcards and postcard collecting in America at the Scranton Library, Madison
 on Monday, June 6 at 7 pm.

His illustrated talk features more than 70 cards of Madison, East River and Hammonasset in the decades before World War I. How did Congress help set off the postcard craze? What role did Germany and Queen Victoria play in popularizing this hobby? Part of the talk will also look at "Then and Now": postcards from 100 years ago compared with photographs of the same sites today. Sponsored by Friends of Scranton Library.
