Greg "The Taco Guy" Sharon Ready To Roll Out His New Wheels Saturday, March 26

Sharon Also Will Be At Madison Challenge Health Expo Thursday, March 24 At The Brown School From 6 To 8 p.m., To Help Promote His Opening Day

Greg Sharon, the owner and operator of Madison's Taco Pacifico taco truck, plans to be outside Academy School at 4 School Street next to the town green, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 26 for his opening day.

And, on Thursday, March 24, he'll be at the Madison Challenge Health Expo event to help promote that opening. The Madison Challenge Health Expo is from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown School, 980 Durham Road.

Sharon, who lives in North Madison, recently drove down to Miami, FL to pick up his new kitchen, a bright orange beauty that is twice as long as his old one and that has a much bigger kitchen. The bigger kitchen in the new truck will help Sharon make sure he doesn't run out of food, and will help him cut down on wait times, he says.

"It's a beauty," Sharon said of his new truck. "And driving down to Miami a few weeks ago to pick it up was a road trip I'll always cherish, especially that fried chicken in South Carolina!"

Sharon is planning an expanded menu that will include meat, chipotle chicken, veggies, "the ever-so-much-requested fish tacos," and revolving specials like Carnitas. He also will continue to offer his popular homemade tortilla chips, salsa fresca, and carne asada. "Oh, and we'll now carry Mexican Coca Cola (cane sugar, no high fructose corn syrup) & Jarritos - the popular Mexican soda," he said. "It's going to be a great season."

Sharon after he closed up last year in October, he took some time off and traveled to California for some rest and relaxation, and to try out fish taco recipes. "I've nailed it," he said. He plans to start with a Fish Taco Friday, then, if it takes off, he'll offer it on a regular basis. The veggies will include mixed bell peppers, onions, and portobello mushrooms.

He said he's excited to show off his new custom-built truck, which he says has more appliances than the average kitchen.

"Thursday will be a great way to promote the season at the Madison Challenge. Saturday will be the kick-off for the 2011 season. Sunday I'll be in Guilford. I'll be closed Monday. And I have no idea where I'll be on Monday," he said.
