Freezing Rain Advisory In Effect, Particularly For Areas North

Advisory in effect for North Madison, Killingworth, Durham, Middlefield, and Northern New Haven county; Areas closer to the shoreline could be affected as well.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory from Sunday evening to 8 a.m. Monday morning.

"The National Weather Service in Upton (NY) has issued a freezing rain advisory," the NWS said. "Hazard types include freezing drizzle, and accumulations of light ice. Temperatures will be rising through the 20s [Sunday night] into Monday morning ... Light ice accretion will result in hazardous travel ... Slow down and use caution while driving."

The extended forecast for North Madison, Killingworth, Durham, and Middlefield is as follows:

Sunday Night: A chance of freezing drizzle after 7pm. Cloudy, with a low around 26. East wind around 6 mph becoming calm.

Monday: A chance of freezing rain before 8am, then rain likely. Areas of fog after 1pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 49. Southeast wind between 5 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no ice accumulation expected.

Monday Night: Rain, mainly before 1am. Areas of fog before 1am. Low around 40. South wind between 11 and 14 mph becoming light. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Calm wind becoming west between 7 and 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. West wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 44.

Tonight: A chance of freezing drizzle between 7pm and 4am, then areas of drizzle after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 28. East wind between 5 and 8 mph.

Monday: Rain likely, mainly after 1pm. Areas of fog after 1pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 48. East wind between 7 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Monday Night: Rain, mainly before 1am. Areas of fog before 1am. Low around 40. South wind between 11 and 14 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 51. Calm wind becoming west between 7 and 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 29. West wind between 5 and 7 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 46.
